Roller Shutter Door Motor for Commercial and Industrial Applications
Roller shutter motors are not selected by door size alone. During project discussions with distributors and shutter manufacturers, the first question is usually the curtain weight rather than the opening dimensions.
A 4-meter-wide aluminum shutter and a 4-meter-wide steel shutter may look similar after installation, but the operating load on the motor can be completely different. This is one reason why motors with the same door width recommendation often require different torque ratings.
In many commercial applications, especially retail security shutters, warehouse doors, and industrial rolling doors, steel curtain profiles remain the preferred option because of their strength and resistance to forced entry. These systems place greater demand on the drive unit, braking system, and mounting structure. For this reason, higher-capacity models such as AC-800, AC-1000, AC-1300, and AC-1500 are commonly selected for heavy-duty installations.
Another factor that is often overlooked is the mounting arrangement. During cooperation with customers in South America, we found that some projects use a bracket configuration that differs from the standard export version. In Brazil, for example, installers frequently request a motor support bracket fitted with an additional metal cover plate. The purpose is not to increase motor performance, but to provide better protection around the drive assembly and improve the appearance of the installation after completion.
This covered bracket design is most commonly seen on steel security shutters installed in commercial districts, warehouses, and storefront applications. Although it is not required in every market, it reflects how local installation practices can influence accessory design.
Typical Characteristics of the Brazilian Bracket Configuration
-Reinforced motor mounting bracket structure
-Additional metal protective cover plate
-Suitable for heavier steel roller shutter systems
-Improved protection of the motor support area
-Cleaner installation appearance
-Easy access for maintenance and servicing
Although this bracket configuration is not required in every market, it has become a common specification requested by some Brazilian distributors and installers based on local installation preferences.
By supporting different bracket designs and installation requirements, WJZ Motor can provide rolling door motor solutions suitable for a variety of regional construction practices.
Control System Requirements
Control methods also vary between regions and project types.
Depending on customer preference, roller shutter door motors can be integrated with:
Wall-mounted push-button switches
Single-channel remote controls
Multi-channel transmitters
DIP-code remote systems
Learning-code radio controls
Smart control platforms
Building automation systems
In some established markets, DIP-code transmitters remain popular because of their compatibility with existing installations and straightforward replacement process. In newer commercial projects, smart control integration is increasingly requested to support centralized management and remote operation.

Technical Specification
Selecting the correct rolling door motor depends on more than door dimensions alone. Curtain material, total operating weight, opening frequency, shaft diameter, and local installation requirements should all be considered during the specification process.
For example, in many South American projects, including Brazil, steel roller shutters are commonly used for commercial security applications. Compared with aluminum slats, steel curtains generate higher operating loads, often requiring motors with greater output torque and lifting capacity.

Note:The maximum lifting capacity shown above represents the motor lifting rating. Actual door weight should remain below the rated lifting capacity. Door construction, wind resistance, guide friction, shaft size, and operating frequency should also be considered during motor selection. |
